Misty’s Christmas Countdown Series, Day 7! Perfect Beginner Christmas Card!

Hi guys! Welcome back to Day 7 of my Christmas countdown videos here on my Blog and over on my YouTube 🙂 For today’s card I thought back to when I first started card making, the cards I wanted to make were always Christmas cards but I didn’t have a lot of supplies. So I thought I would make a card just using basic supplies, that won’t cost you the earth but will still make a thoughtful handmade card for friends and family.

20151017_160101And here is the card! Super simple and cute, using minimal supplies and not expensive ones either!!

The supplies I used:

  • 1 piece of thick white cardstock (any brand you’re happy with/can get hold of easily and cheaply
  • 2 patterns of paper. I used The Night Before Christmas 8×8 paper pack from Trim Craft.
  • Sentiment from Stampin Up (retired). Use any you have or like.
  • Real Red ink from Stampin Up
  • Barn Door Distress Ink – optional.
  • Ink blending tool – if you don’t have this, then cut up a clean sponge 🙂
  • Neighbourhood buttons from Trim Craft. I cant find the exact ones so have linked to similar.
  • Tombo liquid glue
  • Square dimensionals.
  • Wink of Stella in red – optional.

I really hope that you enjoyed this card and video. Please subscribe to my blog and YouTube if you would notifications of my uploads! See you Thursday for Day 8!

Christmas Countdown, Day 5! Elf on the Shelf Sugar Cookies and More!

Hi guys! Thanks for joining me for Day 5 of my Christmas countdown series 🙂

Today I have something different for you, Christmas Sugar Cookies! I’ll be showing you how to make 3 designs today, a snowman, a poinsetta and, of course, the elf on the shelf.

Do you guys have Elves visit during December? Ours started visiting last Christmas and my children are so excited for her to come back this year!

20151013_140426 (2)Arent they cute?!

20151013_14043520151013_140439The Poinsetta is very big so would make a perfect decoration for you Christmas table 🙂

20151013_140449And a very sweet traditional looking Snowman!

Find the video on my YouTube channel!!

My Sugar Cookie recipe:

  • 220g unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 170g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • Splash of vanilla extract
  • Splash of almond extract
  • 400g plain flour

Cream together the butter and sugar, add the egg and the vanilla and almond extract. Then slowly add in the flour until the dough comes together. I use my stand mixer to mix everything. Knead the mixture just to get it smooth and then divide into 2, wrap in cling and then chill overnight. When you want to use it, dust you surface with flour and knead your dough jus to get it flexible again and then cut out. Chill again before you cook, this helps to stop the dough spreading, and put in a pre heated oven at about 180 until golden on the edges.

All my food colours are from Sugarflair, I buy my bags from eBay and don’t bother with tips!

I hope you enjoyed the video, it was fun changing it up from cards! Please like, comment and subscribe 🙂 I love hearing from you and having a chat!

See you Thursday for Day 6 🙂

The projects this week are going to be a little bit similar as I wanted to use my embossing folders and dies that I have. They always tend to be things that I buy but hardly ever use!

Today my 4 year old is off from school poorly, so she was with me while I was making the card. I’ve left some snippets of her in the video so I really hope she makes you all smile as much as she does me 🙂
